This work "Still Life B" was produced by Hsiao in the 1960's (also his peak period) and was one of his geometric abstractionism works.

As an admirer of Pablo Picasso and Abstractionism, Hsiao finds the new subjects through analyzing geometry. He specializes in handling colors. Particular his techniques change from high brightness and multipe layers and colors to extremely single color look. Unlike cubits, Hsiao prefers "plane" as subjects; however, the overall space presentation is overlapping, which excellently represents 3D effects.

Hsiao turns everything he observes into simple or abstract geometric pieces. This work is commonly considered as the extension of this "Glass Series"
